There’s no age limit on being creative.

Stagebridge is a place for older adults to explore their creativity in the performing arts. You’ll learn from exceptional working artists and work with a creative community that’s warm and supportive. 

Based in Oakland, Stagebridge is the nation’s oldest performing arts organization for older adults. Many of our students go on to perform in the community. All of them grow and enjoy themselves.

Why It Matters


Older adults in Oakland and the broader Bay Area face rising rates of social isolation, depression, and chronic stress—conditions recognized as major social drivers of health. These challenges disproportionately affect low-income seniors, older adults of color, and individuals living in long-term care settings. Many have limited mobility, live alone, or lack access to culturally relevant wellness programming. Stagebridge directly addresses these inequities by offering accessible, community-rooted performing arts programs that promote emotional resilience, cognitive engagement, and social connection.
